"Welcoming all people as we celebrate and proclaim God's love, developing followers of Jesus Christ. Serving our community and world." Pastor Dave Childress Our Church Keizer Clear Lake United Methodist Church is a family of caring Christians who want our bright lights of faith to shine in this community. We are a welcoming and relaxed community, open to all who want to learn more about the life of Jesus. Our Pastor Pastor Dave Childress came to Clear Lake Church in July of 2005. Ministry is a second career for Pastor Dave. He heard his call to ministry loud and clear while employed at Enron in Southern California in the 1990s. He entered seminary at age 43, and three years later received his appointment to serve here in the beautiful Keizer/Clear Lake area. Dave, his wife Jenny and their two daughters made the move North, and rapidly became part of the Keizer community. God has given Dave a heart for making disciples for Christ, and he delivers a thought-filled, relevant, and scripture-based message each Sunday. Pastor Dave is also available to hear your personal prayer needs, concerns and questions. Please call the church, email, or stop by the church. Our History In the 1890's, Clear Lake was rural area where farms and families flourished. The growing agricultural community needed a place of worship for families to come together to give thanks, to educate children and to connect with neighbors. In 1900 the Clear Lake congregation was formed and a one-room church was built on the present site with land donated by Edna Bair, a local farm owner. By 1966 the congregation had grown, the structure had aged and the neighborhood was shifting from farm to suburb. A new building was needed. The present sanctuary was raised and the colorful "Dancing Cross" was installed above the altar and became a uniting symbol for our congregation.
The church's strategic plan includes creating a structure that will accomodate expanded programs and allow us to extend Christ's love through service to our neighbors. Building plans include enlarged classrooms and sanctuary, multi-purpose space, new kitchen facilities and a number of new programs.
